Forest Caterpillar Hunter – Calosoma Sycophanta

Post on April 27, 2013 Beetle BugsMacro

The forest caterpillar hunter is a rather large ground beetle with deep metallic green color. Like the name implies, they are voracious predators prey on caterpillars. In fact, they were introduced to USA from Europe in 1905 to battle gypsy moths and they can fly.
