Black Swallowtail Caterpillar

A coworker of mine brought me a pair of Black Swallowtail Caterpillars one day. He asked if i would take this guy off his hand because his wife hated it. They ate all her plants. Hell ya! I love me some bugs! He put them nicely in a plastic vase too.

Both of them are black Swallowtails, but one looked like a bird poop. it’s an 3rd instar caterpillar. The other was in 4th instar stage, just perfect for kodak moment! I got off work early, tried different angles at first but couldn’t get anything out of it. Eventually, I ended up having a bright red and yellow vase behind it as backdrop. It turned out all right.
