Bridge, trees, mountains and boulders on a river with a distanced fall. What else is missing in this picture? Unlike the Watchman over the bridge with all the elements and cloud to set the mood, this picture has clear sky — too dull.
It was such a joy after a full day hike on the Subway, tired but ecstatic. The long-anticipate Narrows hike is ahead! but not the day after tomorrow. On the 5th day of our trip, we took a rest drove around scenic route searching for good spots along virgin river. The route is closed to private vehicles during tourist season and is accessible by shuttle bus only but that day it was opened to public. Perfect timing! Now we can drive and park right at Three Patriarchs tomorrow bright and early.
Good plan right? Except we didn’t get any clouds next morning. I took my shoes off crossed the virgin river for better angle and it was a mistake. She was cold! My feet froze instantly as soon as it touched the water. Lesson learned, no scenery worth taken your shoes off on a cloudless day.
There’s couple falls along the bridge near the Three Patriarchs worth shooting. It was a disappointment that we didn’t get any clouds to seal the deal. Also, there were many large broken tree limb and debris further downstream complete blocked the view, we had to move up for the shoot. Which is a shame, it’s much nicer downstream with better looking boulders for composition.
